Getting Ready For The Holiday Rush Everyone In The Family Helps Out

The holidays are just around the corner and I
am doing my best to stay ahead of the game! 

Ive been busy ordering last minute jewelry 
supplies and packaging, and getting everyone 
in the house to help out in some way. Im also 
waiting for word from my publisher that my 
two new jewelry instruction videos have been

released. It should be any day now! Yay!

My daughter Erica puts labels on jewelry boxes while kitty Sara keeps a close eye on quality control.

Having family members (namely your kids!) help out
with small tasks for your business or Etsy shop 
is a great way to bond while doing something that benefits
everyone in the family. When my girls help out with making 
packaging, or a similar task, we always have a good time talking
 and laughing, and they are learning about small parts of business, 
and also what it means to be a family and to help each other. 
Plus they love being a part of everything!

R is for Rolling Console

Gearing up for summer?  I know I am and last summer we desperately needed some additional counter space outdoors for serving food and drinks so I built this outdoor rolling console.

Not only does it have tons of counter and shelf space but it's totally portable!  That means I can move it anywhere with ease, so convenient.

This console appeared over at Ryobi Nation and today I have the plans here for you.

W is for Wallpaper Wall Art Giveaway

diy wallpaper wall art (and a giveaway too!)

Wallpaper makes an easy solution for adding pattern and texture to your wall and you don't have to wallpaper the whole wall either.  I was challenged by the folks at Porch.com to make something fun and creative using wallpaper for a pattern play project.  And I actually came up with two projects: wallpaper wall art and wallpaper flower bouquet.

If you're not familiar with Porch.com yet they are a home network with connections to accredited home improvement professionals.  It is a giant information source for all things home and DIY, definitely check it out!

Porch.com teamed up with Scout & Nimble to supply us with wallpaper and I choose this Graham & Brown Kensington English rose pattern:  

Originally I never planned on coloring the flowers however when the wallpaper arrived all the beautiful black and white hand-drawn details had me looking at this paper like a coloring book.

L is for Loft Bed with Lego Storage Work Space

A giant build to share with you today thank you to my fellow buildy blogger Jen at House of Wood, she put together the plans for this awesome loft bed with lego storage and work space!

My son was begging for a loft bed and I wanted to make the most use of the space below by designing the bed to fit 2 Ikea Trofast storage towers underneath for legos.  Plus a lego workspace where he can leave out his incomplete projects without cluttering up our Family Room.

The work space is very generous (the table here measures 32"w x 48"l),  Jen's plans make use of the whole width under the bed.  Our table is slightly narrower because I used a scrap piece of plywood and also it does leave a bit of space on the ladder side for feet to poke through.

I put felt on the bottom of the table legs so it easily slides out into the room for more maneuverability.

W is for Work Apron to Zippered Pouch

Make a zippered pouch from a work apron.

It's no secret I like to build but equally I like to sew too.  Recently I made a quick trip to The Home Depot headquarters in Atlanta for the DIY Workshop kick off and amongst all the goodies they gave us was this work apron:

Super functional and lightweight, it's great for woodworking, gardening, etc but I got to thinking the canvas would make an awesome zippered pouch.  These work aprons are available at The Home Depot for an extremely economical .77 cents each so I bought a few more and made some pouches:
