A Musician Must Make Music An Artist Must Paint A Poet Must Write

I think there is so much truth to this quote. As an artist and writer I can say from
my own experience that without being able to express my creativity
through either art or writing or jewelry making, I would never truly feel at peace.
For the artist (and this also covers musicians and writers, and all creative types),
I feel that when we are creating our art, no matter what type of art that may be,
we are experiencing something that truly satisfies our souls.

Built Ins Makeover Using a Paint Sprayer

Who wants to paint a ton of built-ins with a roller and brush?  It's doable but definitely not the smartest, fastest or most professional looking approach.

The last few months I've been making over our upstairs walk-in closet and the most drastic change is painting the built-ins.  I used the Homeright Finish Max sprayer and the results are amazing!

To be perfectly honest I've never painted with a sprayer before.  The thought of cleaning all the parts was enough to turn me off UNTIL I realized how much square footage there was to paint in all these built-ins.  (There are actually 3 portions of built-ins, the above picture only shows one wall and a small portion of another on the left.)

The smarter person in me decided it was time to give the sprayer a try.

DIY Craft Stick Tree Jar Topper

diy mason jar topper for gift giving

Time to start wrapping up all those presents and today I'm so happy to be part of the Pretty Package Party hosted by Brooklyn Limestone.

pretty packages wrapping series

My pretty package is actually a jar topper craft project you can make using craft sticks.  Fill the jar with any gift and you have a fun, creative and pretty package.

A few other bloggy friends shared their Pretty Package ideas too.  Check out Jen from The House of Wood and her wood burned gift tags!  I know we have a wood burning tool on our gift list this year so I'm eager to give this a try.  Love the traditional red and green mixed with craft paper and the wood tag - gorgeous!

Another beautiful idea using silver and white is Jen from Migonis Home and her pretty packages.  The glittered ornaments (from the Dollar Store of all places!) make the perfect embellishment and add just that bit of sparkle!

Inside Of My Studio Soldering Jewelry Outside and my hydrangeas

Okay so the the title might be a little misleading...I suppose it should instead read,
Outside Of My Studio...

I love summer and Ive got to say Im kind of sad to see it come to a close, so I am sucking up
any tiny last opportunity to do things outside in the sunshine before the cooler months roll
around. With my gardens last bouquet of hydrangeas on my backyard table (and check
these out, Im so proud of my three hydrangea bushes - one pink, one blue, and one
purple!) I set up shop in the beautiful outdoors to solder up some pretty new pieces of
broken china jewelry. Soon Ill be flying out to Colorado to shoot two brand new jewelry
instruction videos, and I can already feel a few work deadlines fast approaching, so Im
trying to stay mindful and move from task to task to get finished with what work needs
to get finished, while still finding time to do what I enjoy most, to just sit and create.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer too. :)  -laura

Soldering a piece of broken china jewelry outdoors. I love this vintage grapevine china.

Working on a china heart pendant outside.

The last of my summer hydrangeas...so sad to see them go.

The wooden rim of my workboard keeps my projects from landing up in my lap. Hey,
thats one of my favorite skirts!

The colors are so pretty that they almost seem unreal!

I planted these three bushes one, two, and three years ago.

Early morning.
