DIY Christmas Wreath Trio Ho Ho Ho

The season is upon us and what better way to decorate than with wreaths!  And not just one wreath but how about a trio?  Today I'll show you how I made this Christmas wreath trio with giant cut-out ornaments that say ho, ho, ho.  You could easily change out the lettering to J-O-Y, merry & bright or even a monogram too!

Built Ins Makeover Using a Paint Sprayer

Who wants to paint a ton of built-ins with a roller and brush?  It's doable but definitely not the smartest, fastest or most professional looking approach.

The last few months I've been making over our upstairs walk-in closet and the most drastic change is painting the built-ins.  I used the Homeright Finish Max sprayer and the results are amazing! 

To be perfectly honest I've never painted with a sprayer before.  The thought of cleaning all the parts was enough to turn me off UNTIL I realized how much square footage there was to paint in all these built-ins.  (There are actually 3 portions of built-ins, the above picture only shows one wall and a small portion of another on the left.)

The smarter person in me decided it was time to give the sprayer a try.

DIY Modern Bookshelf

Welcome back to Handbuilt Holiday!  This is week 7 of the series and today we are sharing a modern bookshelf.  Ana White and I strive to provide a good mix of new gift plans every week that include toys as well as functional and fun furniture pieces.

Today is one of those functional gifts and since most kids have a collection of books this modern bookshelf makes the perfect storage solution with just the right amount of quirky kid fun built in.  Ana designed this bookshelf with tons of storage space but also great ledges and nooks for all kinds of toys and play.

Locker Style Mudroom Shoe Cubbies

Free plans today friends for this large five cubby locker style mudroom.  I built this piece over 3 years ago back in July 2012 and posted it here but I've had so many requests to create proper plans that I finally decided to do it.

Yikes that's an old cringe worthy picture but still a great project so I'm reposting.  This is my friend's house and she has four kids and no mudroom so we created one with this extremely user friendly locker cubby system.

This build is actually two pieces: shoe cubbies on the bottom which also serve as a bench and locker style cubbies up top with shelf storage.  Today I am sharing the plans for the shoe cubbies only.
