D is for DIY Workshop Vertical Planter

Let's get building for outdoors:

Today I'm sharing my version of the vertical planter we'll be building at The Home Depot DIY Workshop this Saturday, April 11th at 10am.  The workshop team and I will be demonstrating how to build a vertical planter and we want you to join us:

The vertical planter for the workshop was designed by Ben Uyeda from Homemade Modern.  I made my own custom version to fit my space and I'm sharing the plans down below.

My version is self standing and requires no fence.  See my plans down below if you want to build your own.

Materials:

4 – 2x10x8’ exterior grade boards

4 – 2x4x8’ exterior grade boards

9 – 1x4x8’ cedar boards

3” exterior screws

1 ½” exterior screws

Cut List:

4 – 2x10 @ 48” (vertical supports)

16 – 2x4 @ 21” (planter bases)

36 – 1x4 @ 24” (planter sides)

C is for Cut Out Tray

Im over at Brittanys blog, Pretty Handy Girl, sharing how to make this cut out tray.  All you jig saw lovers will enjoy this project and for those who have yet to try the jig saw this is a simple starting point.

You can use any font or shape you choose because the tray surface is covered with plexiglass.

T is for 3 Step Stool Giveaway

I used the jig saw to make the stepped cuts and the arched cut out for the 3 step stool:

My preferred method to make straight cuts with the jig saw is to clamp down a straight edge making a fence for the saw to ride up against.  Above the wood has already been cut but you can see how having that straight edge clamped in place keeps control of the jig saw.
